Job Summary:

The State Library of Oregon is searching for an entrepreneurial leader, strong manager, and accomplished librarian to serve as the State Librarian.

As the Agency Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the State Library of Oregon, the State Librarian is a highly-engaged, enthusiastic champion for libraries in Oregon and maintains a high-profile in communities across the state. The State Librarian possesses a broad, inclusive vision for the multiple facets of the State Library with a focus on modernization, especially in ensuring effective and efficient information management services responsive to the distinct needs of each state agency. The State Librarian provides flexible support and technical assistance to local libraries and library consortia, and expands the reach of programs that improve outcomes for children, families, and communities.

The State Librarian supervises the three managers of the Library’s four divisions. The individual in this position directs Library staff to meet the mission of the agency as contained in the Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) and the long-range and biennial goals adopted by the State Library Board.
