Description: The Children’s Services Librarian delivers dynamic, customer-focused library service. This role involves carrying out high-impact early-literacy and other programming initiatives, conducting extensive outreach to schools, and collaborating with the Information Services team. Professional duties also include providing reference service (in-person and online), tech and readers’ advisory help, and ongoing collection maintenance. Key skills for this position include reference interviewing, clear communication, patience, and instructional clarity, all of which are essential for serving our diverse community, including immigrants, seniors (55+), and people with varying abilities. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by AFSCME Council 2.
