Performs professional work serving library patrons directly or indirectly with a focus on children and young adult library services. Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or closely related field and 3 years of experience in children’s and/or young adult services library environment. Master’s Degree in Library/Information Sciences, with course work in children’s literature preferred, may substitute for the work experience requirement. Bilingual preferred. A valid Oregon driver’s license is required.

The Education and Science Librarian consults and collaborates with scholars; participates in a dynamic instructional program, including face to face and online instruction; provides reference and information services for the University’s students and faculty as well as members of the community; and selects information resources to support the instructional and research needs of a diverse institution. This position will serve as a liaison to the academic units and programs in the Graduate School of Education as well as departments such as psychology and biology depending on the needs of the Library. The Engagement Manager works under the direction of the Branch Manager and in partnership with the Access Manager to provide leadership for a staff of approximately 65 employees (55 FTE) and manages operations in all areas of service at Vancouver Community Library. These services include but are not limited to reference, reader’s advisory, programming for all ages, circulation services, patron accounts, collection management at the branch, and the physical maintenance of the building. The Engagement Manager represents the branch and library district in the community and is integral in sustaining positive community relationships.
