The Executive Director is responsible for successful development and implementation of the Library District’s overall strategy and vision as approved by the Board of Trustees, and for sound financial stewardship and successful management of library services. The Executive Director advises and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees as the governing body that sets library policies, reviews and approves the annual budget and levy, initiates levy and bond elections, and determines the general direction of the Library District. The ideal Executive Director for Sno-Isle Libraries will have unquestioned personal integrity, professionalism, and a positive work ethic. They will have strong presentation and communication skills with an outgoing, personable, and inclusive management style, acting as both a connector and catalyzer who will establish rapport, trust and positive working relationships with all. This individual will be a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and be a visible presence throughout the system who is interested in listening to, actively leading, and mentoring staff. The Sultan Library is a small-sized library close to Highway 2 in east Snohomish County, nestled in the beautiful Skykomish Valley. The City of Sultan has experienced recent population growth and has an increasingly diverse community. Sultan Library is open six days a week, offering programming, collections, and services that largely focus on early learning, children, and families. This Library Associate performs skilled paraprofessional library support services at the Sultan Library to contribute to the Library District’s effective operation, providing library services, spaces, and resources that are representative of diverse cultures and perspectives, intentionally inclusive, and accessible to everyone. The schedule for this position is 15 hours per week and includes Monday evenings, Wednesdays, and alternating Fridays and Saturdays. Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, and evenings. The successful candidate may be required to adapt to future schedule and location changes depending on the needs of the library. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by AFSCME Council 2.
