Description: The Access Services Manager at the Mark O. Hatfield Library is responsible for the daily management of circulation and related services at Willamette University’s main undergraduate library. This position plays a central role in library patrons’ user experience. The incumbent oversees daily operations at the circulation desk, supervises student employees, and fosters a welcoming, responsive environment for students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. This role requires responsiveness in a high-demand environment and often serves as the primary—and sometimes sole—point of contact for library users, representing both the library and the University.
The position involves handling unexpected and complex situations requiring sound judgment and independent decision-making. In all areas of responsibility, the incumbent safeguards the confidentiality of departmental and administrative information, including personnel actions, performance evaluations, and records, exercising discretion in all communications.
